Location Description The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center is a magnificent and storied hotel nestled in the heart of Roanoke, Virginia. Built in 1882, the Tudor-style hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a member of the International Association of Conference Centers. Overview We are looking for a highly engaging, safety and customer focused individual to join our team as 2nd Shift Security Officer. The successful candidate for this role is engaging, highly detailed, and is open to learning and leading by example, responds in a professional and courteous manner to guests and team, as well as being there to support the team both personally and professionally. The Security Officer is responsible for the safety and security of guests and employees and the property. This includes supporting other department activities to help assure the highest levels of guest and employee service. This is a tremendous opportunity for a driven person to grow and learn at a world-class property. This is a 2nd shift position- hours - 3:00 pm- 11:00 pm ( Must have weekend and holiday availiabilty. Training for this position will typically take place on 1st shift) Your Role: Patrol the interior of and the perimeter of the hotel and the property to observe and identify potential safety risks, security risks and undesirable conditions. Respond to emergency situations including, but not limited to, safety hazards, fires, medical emergencies and threats to life and/or property. Promote safe work practices. Initiates preliminary investigations into incidents, as needed. Writes reports and ensures accuracy of necessary documentation, as needed. Respond to guest inquiries and requests and resolve guest issues in a timely, friendly and efficient manner. Monitors visitors and vendors and issues badges to same Assist with opening guest rooms and meeting rooms as needed. Issue radios, master and hard keys for employees Completing daily activity reports and incident reports. Respond to fire panel when activated Respond to medical call and incident calls Perform other related duties as requested by Manager. Qualifications Previous Security experience required and or military or law enforcement. Preference given to previous hotel Security experience. First Aid/AED/CPR training preferred or obtainable. Ability to communicate effectively with guests & co-workers. Ability to accomplish necessary tasks on a computer. High school graduate or equivalent. Ability to work on your own with limited supervision but can stay on task to complete required duties. All Security personnel must have a clear Criminal Background and DMV record. Other: The hotel functions seven (7) days a week and twenty-four (24) hours per day. All employees, both management and hourly, must realize this fact and be aware that at times it may be necessary to move employees from their accustomed shift as business demands. Compensation Range The compensation for this position is $14.50/Hr. - $17.25/Hr. based on qualifications and experience.
