Job Summary: Provides for the security of Saint Francis Hospital patients, visitors, staff, equipment, supplies, facilities and hospital contents.
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: CLEET certified peace officers, must obtain CLEET Armed Security Guard Certification within ninety days (90)of hire. All others, must obtain CLEET Armed Security Guard Certification within sixty days (60) of hire.
Work Experience: 1 - 2 years of related security experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to utilize effective oral, written and listening skills to effectively communicate with the public. Ability to utilize positive interpersonal skills to interact with patients, visitors and hospital staff.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Implements necessary security measures to protect the life and property of all persons within the hospital complex as well as the hospital and its contents. Controls unruly visitors, and under the direction of a physician, controls patients, with special attention given to the Trauma Emergency Center. Provides back up to the officers in other areas of the hospital as appropriate to contain and resolve disruptions of normal activity. Responds to fire alarms on the secondary call and acts as directed by the Hospital Fire Marshal or the Stationary Engineers. Directs hospital personnel in cases of immediate danger or pending disaster. Responsible for notifying dispatch of shift events as they occur so that they may be entered into the log. Performs the function of Security Dispatcher when needed. Investigates unusual incidents, completes appropriate incident reports and submits completed reports to the Risk Management Department. As directed, performs other related duties within the purview of the position and follows the hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Observes employees entering and leaving the hospital at shift change, provides escort service to parking lots when requested and provides escort service for persons transporting money or other valuables. Controls traffic on the hospital complex with special attention given to the parking lots and writes citations for parking violations when necessary. Conducts a patrol system, which incorporates the examination of the hospital premises, doors, windows, physical property, facilities, and suspicious activity that will be documented with the Tour Recording system.
