Responsibilities:

Staff fixed posts to monitor ingress and egress to secured areas, ensuring controlled access. Provide customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff to maintain a safe and secure environment. Inspect incoming and outgoing parcels as necessary to prevent theft and ensure safety protocols. Respond to and resolve problems, disputes, and unusual circumstances efficiently and effectively. Maintain required certifications and licensing to uphold professional standards in security operations. Assist with traffic control and provide vehicle assists to facilitate smooth operations on premises. Transport deceased individuals to the morgue and coordinate the release of bodies as required. Monitor security, fire, and environmental alarms, responding promptly and assisting when necessary. Establish a uniformed security presence by patrolling UPMC hospitals, buildings, and grounds to deter criminal activity and document occurrences. Operate UPMC vehicles in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code, ensuring compliance at all times. Conduct patient escorts and stand-by details to enhance safety during vulnerable situations. Complete all mandatory training programs per departmental guidelines to maintain proficiency in security practices. Report and document incidents, suspicious activities, and hazards to maintain a secure environment.
