Performs and leads general Security and Safety work in the protection of persons and property and the enforcement of applicable policies, procedures and regulations of Cayuga Health System, Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services, and NYS Office of Addiction Services and Supports, as well as applicable Federal, State and Local laws to prevent loss due to accidents and incidents.\n

Roles and Responsibilities:\n
Protection of Life & Property\n\nPatrols the facilities both inside and outside.\nRemains highly visible during patrols\nIs observant and engages with suspicious persons at the facility.\nAssists patients, visitors and staff as needed\nLocks and unlocks areas as prescribed or as requested\nMaintains continuous contact via phone or radio with subordinates and management \nResponds in a timely manner to all calls.\nSubmits a concise, clear, accurate and complete incident report in a timely manner\nCompletes daily security log.\nMaintains work area in a clean and safe manner on a daily basis.\nEscorts individual in a timely manner as needed to ensure their safety.\nIs observant for unauthorized activities.\nUses proper lifting techniques during work tasks to prevent lifting injuries.\n\n
Performs Fire and Safety Checks\n\nInspects fire extinguishers and other safety equipment\nInspects various directional and warning signs about the buildings and reports any need for replacement.\nInspects exit signs and reports any bulb replacement needed.\nKeeps well informed and conducts all fire, safety and disaster drills. Reports results to supervisor upon completion.\nInvestigates incident of injuries involving visitors and ensures a report is prepared.\nTakes proper action to correct safety and security shortcomings noted.\nCheck the outer portion of the buildings for safety hazards.\nInspects all elevators (where applicable), fire exits, and interior escape stairwells to ensure that there are no obstructions and are well lighted. Reports any discrepancies.\n\n
Enforces all Federal, State and Local Laws, as well as all hospital Policies and Procedures\n\nConduct preliminary investigations of complaints and incidents.\nAnswers all disturbances or criminal offense calls as requested.\nUses diplomacy to insure all persons are not offended or alienated.\nMonitors compliance with CARS, OASAS, and CHS safety and security procedures.\n\n
Facility Equipment Maintenance\n\nBasic mechanical ability to make minor repairs.\nAnalyze malfunctions and identify staff that can make repairs.\nAttempts to repair before calling for assistance when appropriate.\n\n
Miscellaneous Activities\n\nInspection of facility lighting.\nInspection of doors and stair wells.\nSecurity of entrance doors.\nInterdepartmental support.\n\n
Education and Development\n\nCompletes all mandatory education requirements.\nAttends departments, onsite and off-site in-service as required.\nAttends department meetings.\n\n

Required Skills and Experience:\n\nEducation - High School Diploma \/ GED\nExperience - Able to drive vehicle in all weather conditions. Minimum of one year experience involving Security preferred but not necessary. Ability to produce an accurate and well written report. Ability to work alone or as part of a team. Experience with alcohol and\/or substance abuse disorders preferred but not required. Good people skills.\nLicensure - A clean valid NYS Driver's license. Need to possess and\/or ability to obtain a New York State Security Guard License and pass an FBI background check, no criminal convictions.\n\n

Physical Requirements:\n\nThis position requires the ability to assist with lifting patients. Able to stand, sit and walk for long periods of time. Ability to walk up and down stairs. Good vision and hearing. Rotate and work irregular shifts. Able to work out of doors in all types of weather.\n\n

Pay Range Disclosure:\n\n$21.16 to $22.35 per hour \n\n
