Security Officer - FT - Evenings **MercyOne** 1 Positions ID: TRHEUS00537121MERCYO Posted On 10/18/2024 **Job Overview** **Employment Type:** Full time **Shift:** Evening Shift **Description:** **POSITION PURPOSE:** The Security Officer will take an active role in the Security Management Program which provides for the safety and well-being of all individuals associated with the facilities of Mercy Medical Center (MMC). Assists patients and visitors with directions and information. Actively demonstrates the organization’s mission and core values and conducts oneself at all times in a manner consistent with these values. According to prescribed procedures, patrols various areas of the Hospital facilities and grounds and acts to deter loss of hospital, associate, patient and visitor property, by intercepting unauthorized individuals and investigating unusual incidents. Assists to maintain order as needed. While on patrol, examines doors, windows and gates to ensure they are secure, inspects equipment and machinery to ascertain if tampering has occurred and reports all irregularities. The Security Officer also provides for various lower-level maintenance activities to be accomplished. Under close supervision, is responsible for assisting the Physical, Occupational and/or Speech Therapy staff in routine patient care activities. Possesses the skills necessary to provide direct patient care specific to each age group in accordance with department protocol. Some on-the-job training will be provided. + In lieu of Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, 2 – 4 years of previous related experience. + Driving is a requirement. A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance must be maintained throughout employment. + Must be able to demonstrate a good driving record verifiable with the DMV in the applicant’s state of residence. + Demonstrates general working knowledge of computers and department specific software (i.e. HealthStream, Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, GroupWise; internet/intranet; work order system; and building maintenance software such as Siemens Software. + Maintain a professional, collaborative work environment so as to foster a positive public image for Mercy Medical Center. + Must have ability to interact with associates, physicians, visitors and patients consistent with Mercy’s Mission & Values, Mercy’s Model of Caring which includes the Caring Model Principles and the Guiding Behaviors, & Trinity Health’s Code of Conduct. + Must have the ability to relate to and work with people across all levels & diverse backgrounds); and ability to handle interactions with discretion, tact & courtesy. + Must have good communication skills, including a good understanding of the English language. + Provide a high level of customer responsiveness and serve as a role model to encourage a commitment to customer service. + Maintains positive and respectful attitude in all departmental relationships. + Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety and medical information.
