Security Officer III
Job Purpose

National Grid is seeking a highly competent Security Officer to join our team to monitor our premises and protect our valued staff.  As a Security Officer, you will need a sharp eye with quick reaction time in the detection of any suspicious or criminal behavior, and prevention of theft or vandalism. 

 

Key Accountabilities Secure our premises and personnel by patrolling property, monitoring surveillance equipment, and access points. Investigate security breaches, incidents, and other alarming behavior Guard access points, permitting or refusing entry, restraining trespassers, and direct heavy traffic during start and end of business hours Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities. Qualifications

Security Officer must meet the following requirements:

Previous law enforcement experience 15+ years (municipal, state or federal) Concealed gun permit for NYC with the ability to carry a firearm Able to stand, walk, climb ladders or steps during an 8-hour shift or irregular shift Able to lift or carry up to 50 pounds Pass post offer hearing and vision assessment Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving history, per individualized assessment  Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Pay Rate: $35.42 per hour

 

Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ("DOT") covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such, the Company’s testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.

 

Many of the terms and conditions of employment for this position are defined by a collective bargaining agreement that the Company has with a local union.  Newly hired employees are bound by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement as well as other agreements between the Company and the local union.
