Security Officer - Per Diem

The Security Officer assumes control of emergency and non-emergency security related situations and bring them to a satisfactory conclusion. Respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations, codes, and/or alarms. Observe and enforce policies and procedures for the security and safety of patients, visitors, staff, physicians, and property. Maintains security and safety for assigned area of responsibility and campus when necessary. Safely regulate pedestrian and vehicular traffic when requested or during emergent situations. Provide a visible deterrence to crime, prohibited or suspicious activities in public and non-public areas such as the main building, outlying buildings, grounds, parking areas, stairways, tunnels, mechanical areas, and patient care areas. Maintains strong working knowledge of the locations of various departments, buildings, and access routes and assists in locating areas upon request. Performs patrols and escorts on hospital property. Respond to calls for service and document in the security activity and incident reporting system. Ensure security activity and incident reports generated during shift, accurately reflect the facts of the occurrences of assigned shift and are completed in a timely manner. Document violators of hospital policies or procedures and report to security leadership. Provide basic interview and investigative knowledge and skills for written incident reports. Utilize knowledge of security and safety principles, practices, and policies. Provide a commitment to staff and patient safety and practices which support reasonable and appropriate use of force when needed. Provide input to safety plans; present ideas, use persuasion and negotiation to build consensus and cooperation; ensure safe practices and update leadership as appropriate. Additional technical duties as required in support of hospital operations.

This is a casual, float pool position with a varied shift and schedule in San Diego. Will require flexibility and floating to all of our hospital and clinic sites as needed.

Associates Degree.1 years security, law enforcement, military, or related.Completion of POST PC 832 Laws of Arrest.
