NetImpact Strategies is seeking a Security Operations Engineer to join our team, in support of a federal client onsite in Bethesda, MD.

Security Operations Engineer is highly skilled and proactive, with expertise in monitoring, detecting, and responding to cybersecurity threats. He should be experienced in using security information and event management (SIEM) tools, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and incident response protocols to safeguard enterprise systems and data. With strong knowledge of threat hunting, vulnerability assessments, and security compliance standards, he should be adept at investigating security breaches, performing root cause analysis, and implementing proactive security measures. Committed to continuous improvement of security operations, he should leverage automation, threat intelligence, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a secure IT environment. 

Responsibilities: 

Monitor and Analyze Security Alerts: Continuously monitor security alerts and events using SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) systems to detect potential security threats and breaches. Incident Detection and Response: Investigate and respond to security incidents, coordinating the resolution of security breaches, and conducting post-incident analysis to improve future responses. Vulnerability Management: Perform regular vulnerability assessments, patch management, and apply security updates to systems and applications to mitigate security risks. Threat Intelligence: Gather and analyze threat intelligence from various sources to identify emerging threats and vulnerabilities, and integrate this information into proactive security measures. Security Automation: Develop and implement security automation scripts and tools to streamline repetitive tasks such as alerting, incident response, and reporting. Conduct Root Cause Analysis: Investigate and analyze security incidents to determine the root cause and recommend preventive measures to minimize the risk of recurrence. Security Configuration and Hardening: Ensure security best practices are followed by configuring and hardening systems, applications, and networks to protect against unauthorized access and exploitation. Security Policy Enforcement: Implement and enforce security policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure organizational compliance with industry regulations and security standards. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with IT, network, and development teams to integrate security controls and practices into system and application design, implementation, and operations. Reporting and Documentation: Generate regular security reports and maintain detailed documentation of security incidents, vulnerabilities, and actions taken, providing insights to stakeholders and leadership.   Qualifications

Required

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Relevant Experience: 3-5 years of experience in security operations, incident response, or cybersecurity roles. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
