Security Researcher / Cryptographer
Job Description

As a Security Researcher / Cryptographer at Intel, you will lead pioneering research in Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) to drive advancements in encrypted computing and communication technologies. Your work will involve designing, developing, and implementing scientific research projects that explore the feasibility of applying FHE principles to future Intel products. You will contribute to scientific literature, develop intellectual property, and build prototypes to demonstrate the viability of your solutions.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:  

Design, develop, and execute research projects focused on Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE).

Investigate the feasibility of applying FHE principles to potential inventions and products, typically 5+ years ahead of product roadmap inclusion.

Plan and conduct laboratory research, maintaining substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.

Contribute to scientific literature and present findings at conferences.

Develop intellectual property and coordinate interdepartmental research activities.

Propose scalable solutions and build software and hardware prototypes to demonstrate technical feasibility.

Communicate complex technical issues clearly to drive decision-making processes.

Collaborate effectively within a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum education requirements and minimum required qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Relevant experience can be obtained through schoolwork, classes, project work, internships, and/or military experience. Additional preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:  

Master’s Degree with 3+ years of experience, OR PHD with 1+ years of experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or STEM-related field with an emphasis on Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE).

3+ years of experience in:

Publishing cryptography research in peer-reviewed conferences or journals.

Building FHE applications with at least one FHE library.

Understanding lattice-based cryptography.

Working with SIMD (Single Instruction, Multiple Data) architecture and programming.

Preferred Qualifications:

Currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field with an emphasis on Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE).

Proficiency in software development.

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US $161,230.00-$227,620.00
*Salary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience


Working Model
This role is available as a fully home-based and generally would require you to attend Intel sites only occasionally based on business need.
