Security Shift Manager
Job Description summary: Responsible for coordinating and managing the activities of all Security Associates on assigned shift. Ensure that all processes and policies of the department are followed. Ensures the protection of life and assets on the property. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: + Monitors all areas of the property at all times, identifying potential security and/or safety risks and reporting same to the appropriate individual or entity for proper resolution. + Ensures the quality of operations in the Security Department on assigned shift. + Maintains a working knowledge of all rules and regulations of the Gaming Commission, and ensures strict adherence to same throughout the property. + Protects company assets and gaming integrity through the consistent, thorough monitoring of all activities on property, particularly on the gaming floor. + Directs the flow of Security Reports to the proper individuals within the company, always maintaining the highest level of confidentiality. + Advises Security Associates on assigned shift of duties and responsibilities, and ensures that they are completed in a timely, efficient manner. + Maintains appropriate staffing levels in the Security Department by interviewing, selecting, training, scheduling, evaluating, promoting, disciplining and terminating Associates, as needed. + Reviews all Daily Activity Reports and prepares Shift Reports for Director of Security. + Coordinates with the Surveillance Department when Security discovers a matter which needs further investigation or attention. + Facilitates the flow of information throughout the department by attending regularly scheduled departmental meetings. + Observes, documents, videotapes and reports any unusual or suspicious activities on property. + Regularly inspects the premises, identifying potential safety or security hazards, and reporting same to the appropriate individual or entity, for proper resolution. + Reviews surveillance tapes and reports, providing detailed information to appropriate company officials and outside agencies, as needed. + Held accountable for the accuracy and thoroughness of departmental records and reports. + Make suggestions and recommendations, as appropriate, with regard to possible changes in the policies and procedures of other departments, with the protection of company assets in mind. + Maintains a series of critical keys, accessing locked areas as necessary. + All other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervises the activities of all of the Security Associates on assigned shift. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining associates, addressing complaints and resolving problems. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice or related area preferred. Two years supervisory experience in security / surveillance or related field required. Must be a New York State licensed Security Guard. SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of two years in law enforcement, security, loss prevention, surveillance, or related area required. Must possess excellent observational and communication skills. Must be computer-literate (Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook). The Associate is required to stand for the majority of the shift. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an Associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the project floor, the noise level increases to loud.
