Security Specialist – National Remote

The Security Specialist is part of UnitedHealth Group's Corporate Security group supporting the Optum Safety program. UnitedHealth Group’s Corporate Security is responsible for the Enterprise Workplace Security Program that ensures the protection of the company’s global workforce and physical assets through security risk management platforms. The Optum Safety Program is comprised of a small team of experts whose mission is to keep Clinician safety at the forefront of all that we do, focusing specifically on field workers.

The Security Specialist will be responsible for managing a streamlined investigations intake workflow and field safety incidents process for the Optum Safety program. The Security Specialist will focus on reviewing Safety – Do Not Visit and Safety – Do Not Contact cases for Home and Community against a safety rubric.  They will also work with additional Safety partners to determine and help implement a Proactive Threat Assessment process.

Primary Responsibilities: 

Review field clinician safety incidents against set rubric and recommend safety protocols Review member appeals to determine if safety situation has changed or been addressed Manage the Safety – Do Not Visit source of Truth and ensure needed EMRs are updated with correct information Provides investigative support to Corporate Security investigators and performs lower-risk Tier 1 investigations for proactive threat identification Manages workflow that determines priority, level of support, and type of engagement. Manages multiple issues and / or projects concurrently Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g. Clinical Leadership, Enterprise Information Security, Human Capital / Employee Relations, Legal and Real Estate Services) along with external customers in gathering information to ensure exceptional level of investigations support occurs Must be able to interact with peers, management, and senior leaders in a constantly evolving environment to ensure a positive customer experience and atmosphere in the workplace Consults with the Safety Team on all things Safety specifically the future state process for Safety – Do Not Visit and Proactive Threat identification Evaluate existing process and develop proposals for improvements Gather, compile, and present metrics to maintain KPIs Ability to display sound judgement and critical thinking

Required Qualifications: 

Undergraduate degree 2+ years of experience of documenting processes and procedures while effectively prioritizing multiple tasks, priorities, projects, and deadlines 2+ years of Physical Security controls and end to end life cycle of incident response 2+ years of experience leading a team in investigations and incident management 1+ years of experience providing investigative support or conducting investigations Experience in comfort and familiarity with engaging law enforcement Experience working in a security operations center or similar environment Experience in managing a security process, intake workflow Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Teams

Preferred Qualifications: 

Experience working in or around clinical settings Experience with Smartsheet/SharePoint Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills Demonstrated ability to prioritize and balance multiple priorities and projects Demonstrated level of exceptional integrity and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information Ability to engage internal and external stakeholder groups through clear and concise communication Ability to collect, analyze and share metrics and findings from multiple data sources

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
