This position is part of the Agency Force Protection, Government Publishing Office in Washington, District of Columbia. Responsibilities Configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting issues with, and managing Security Management access and control server. Evaluating security systems, accessing controls, Closed Circuit Televisions (CCTV), and fire and safety issues to determine the exact nature of the problem; and then resolve or coordinate a resolution. Maintaining responsibility for physical security and safety concerning technical countermeasures to secure access to agency facilities. Preparing written reports of all program issues, recommending fundamental policy changes, and providing input in the development of policies. Advising facility security personnel on matters requiring clear explanations of regulations and procedures, as well as assisting with risk assessments. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for the Security Specialist, PG -0080-12, you must meet the following requirements: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the PG-11 or higher grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include: Making recommendations for Physical Security safety and security equipment requiring access to sensitive/classified information; Assisting with troubleshooting security systems including CCTV, Network Video Recorders (NVR), and fire and safety issues; and Performing electrical and wiring installation work and repairs for fire and safety alarms. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement (02/13/2025) to be considered. Education Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level. Top Secret: To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the GPO requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy; this position requires a Top Secret. To meet those standards, all selected applicants must undergo and successfully completed a background investigation for a Top Secret clearance. This review could include financial issues such as delinquency in the payment of debts, child support and/or tax obligations, as well as certain criminal offenses and illegal use or possession of drugs; this security process may take between 6 weeks to 12 months. GPO will conduct an interim security clearance, pending the completion of the full investigative requirements for the final Top Secret clearance. The interim security clearance will be granted based on the favorable completion of preliminary checks that are accomplished as part of the security clearance process. The Agency may rescind the tentative offer if the candidate is unable to obtain an interim clearance.
