Security Supervisor

The Dayton Convention Center (DCC) is the region's premier mid-sized event facility conveniently situated right in the heart of downtown Dayton. Located within a 600-mile radius of close to 70% of the nation’s population and steps from the vibrant Oregon Entertainment District, the 150,000 sq. ft. DCC offers 77,000 sq. ft of column-free exhibition space and 22 meeting rooms including a 750 seat, full stage theater. Managed by ASM Global and owned and developed by the Montgomery County Convention Facilities Authority, the DCC is in the process of completing a major renovation to its facility that will serve to reinforce its status as the venue of choice for the region.

Participates in the day-to-day functions of securing, directing, and promoting security and public safety in the Dayton Convention Center.  The Campus includes 3 ballrooms, 3 exhibit halls, 19 meeting rooms, 675 seat theater, VIP lounge, elevated terrace, and front plaza area.  Total square footage is 168,000 sq. ft.  You will be called upon to greet Guests as they arrive, check bags and perform visual checks of guests, manage crowds, secure doors and monitor specific locations throughout the venue, and act as roving or posted security.  As the “eyes and ears” of the campus, you are expected to keep a close watch on the crowd and intervene in situations when appropriate and call for assistance when it is needed. You are required to oversee the daily Shift operations of the Public Safety Department. You will be tasked with supervising 3 or more Public Safety Officers/Public Safety Event Staff.  You are on the “front line” and will experience the excitement and energy each event. Assists in event related activity as required.

Greet guests as they enter and leave the facilitiesAnswer questions; resolve complaints, and give directionsEnforce venue policies and proceduresReport suspicious activity and violations of campus policyRespond to guest conflicts, medical situations, and other incidentsProvide crowd management and assist with crowd movementSecure locations and prohibit access to unauthorized individualsChallenge unauthorized personnel in restricted areasFollow established code of conduct and safety proceduresProvide exceptional service to all patronsPerform regular and routine security rounds of the campus; noting and correcting unsafe or insecure conditions, and takes further and immediate action to correct conditions as neededComplete detailed reports on activity during shiftComplete Written Incident reportsVerify reports are completedInput door schedule into magnetic door lock programDirect visitors, deliveries and related personnel to proper areas, notifies related departments of visitor/delivery arrival/departureOperate and monitor computerized fire alarm system and surveillance cameraOperate company vehicle to transports employees or patrons around campusTake appropriate action in the event of an emergencyMaintain daily shift schedules and postsAssign shift duties to Public Safety Officer/Public Safety Event StaffSupervise Public Safety Officer and Public Safety Event StaffReport incident to Public Safety Management for follow-upMaintain a proactive and positive attitudeAttend campus meetings in the absence of Public Safety ManagementMust have the ability to interact with guests in a friendly, courteous and polite manner. This will include initiating contact with guests within 10 feet – i.e. smiling, saying “Good Day” or offering assistance when needed.Must feel comfortable when around large groups or speaking to a guest, as neededUnderstands the importance of providing customer service and in understanding of “The Magic is in the Details”All other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Knowledge: Public Safety/Security Background, including but not limited to Law Enforcement, Military, Fire, or Emergency Medical Service Background.

Experience:   

Minimum 1 year experience in Public Safety fieldMinimum 2 year supervisory/field training supervisor experience in Public Safety field

Skills/Aptitudes:  Must possess oral and written communication skills and be able to follow instructions; able to qualify under existing state security guidelines; physical ability to walk, climb steps, stand/walk for up to 8 hours; must be fluent in English language; must be willing and able to work with a wide variety of individuals from varying socioeconomic backgrounds; attention to detail; conflict resolution skills preferred.

Working Conditions: May be exposed to adverse weather conditions for long periods of time; ability to work flexible hours in addition to normal business hours as needed; must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs; must be able to stand for long periods of time. May be exposed to physical confrontations.
