Job DescriptionAllied Universal® is hiring a Security System Engineer. The Security System Engineer will support the Security System IT team for a high-profile customer. The Security System Engineer will help on various security programs and troubleshooting that are used by the security team nationwide. The Engineer will work closely with the AUS account Managers and Site Managers troubleshoot security system problems and programming with the client’s security technology team. This role works as part of a team to manage the effective deployment and use of hardware and software that supports the customer’s security department. The Security System Engineer creates systems training tools and ensures compliance with systems operating standards, company policies, and special security instructions used by entry level security officers and control center operators.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accountable for monitoring systems health and the identification of abnormal occurrences, and system operationsCoordinate with security vendors and internal technical teams in performing changes, installations, moves, removal and updating of hardware and software in support of access control systems, burglar/intrusion systems, video management systems, visitor management systems, and emergency operations systemsMaintain documentation regarding procedures, equipment and inventory, circuit ordering and disconnecting, interdepartmental communications, installation of hardware such as cameras, monitors, access cards and visitor management printersManage the implementation and support of networked security equipment as required for the effective use of electronic security systemsOversee and conduct new system deployments, operational validation, and recommend final sign-off and acceptanceServe as primary contact for consulting with internal administrators and users regarding system issuesSupport management and administrator responses to system outages, ensuring appropriate mitigation and compensatory measures are in place while system issues are being analyzed and repairedTechnical consulting on systems design and requirements creationPerform initial trouble shooting of systems issues and escalate as appropriate to resolve and/or mitigate system issuesManage system upgrades, patches and the management of vulnerabilities that could impact security systemsImplement and control all new software releases and modifications into the security environmentQUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess one or more of the following:Associate’s degree in Security Administration or Information TechnologyHigh school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of four (4) years of experience managing a security SMS (Security Management System)Must possess a minimum of two (2) years of experience with security systems to include basic programming and operations management of access control, CCTV, and intrusion alarms; specifically, Lenel OnGuard and Genetec Security CenterEducational or work experience with databasesEducational or work experience with Window’s based operating systems and programs which require advanced computer skillsAble and willing to help and coach junior level staffStrong problem-solving skillsEffective oral and written communicationSynthesize facts, concepts, principlesAssess and evaluate situations effectivelyIdentify critical issues quickly and accuratelyPlanning and organizingAttending to detailPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous professional experience in security, law enforcement, criminal justice, or other security related fieldsBroad knowledge in one or more areas of security devices, systems, technologies, databases, and software including, but not limited to, controlled access systems (CAS), security badge systems, lock and key systems, Fire/Life Safety systems, program/project management, database technical support, and financial and/or administrative support.Proficiency to perform and/or support all components of security program including risk analysis/mitigation, physical security, emergency preparedness/response, information protection, incident management/reporting, and investigations ClosingAllied Universal® is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
