Segment Producer
ROLE: Segment Producer is responsible for the daily production of engaging, high-quality news segments for broadcast and digital that align with the FOX 5/KUSI brands. This position requires strong communication and organization skills, as well as the ability to identify and secure compelling guests. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced newsroom, stays ahead of current events, and can develop creative, informative, and relevant content that resonates with viewers. RESPONSIBILITIES: + Produce and develop unique, creative, and timely segments that drive audience engagement + Research, identify, and book high-profile guests, experts, and newsmakers to enhance coverage + Coordinate all logistical details for guest appearances, including scheduling, pre-interviews, talking points, and remote setup when necessary + Establish and maintain strong relationships with publicists, industry contacts, and community leaders to secure timely and exclusive interviews + Prepares segments in rundown including writing intros, questions, graphics, supporting video + Collaborate with editorial and technical team to ensure seamless execution of well-rounded, visually engaging and compelling live and/or pre-recorded segments + Stay informed with current news, trends, and social media conversations to proactively book guests and produce relevant content + Adapt to breaking news and last-minute changes, adjusting segments and bookings accordingly + Perform additional duties as needed EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: + Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field preferred + Minimum 3 years of experience in broadcast news, segment producing, or a related field, with a strong focus on guest booking REQUIREMENTS/JOB SKILLS: + Must have superior organizational skills, can multitask and prioritize assignments with great attention to detail and consistently meet deadlines + Must have excellent communication skills – oral, written and interpersonal + Must collaborate positively with ability to take and implement feedback; also, be able to work independently with minimal supervision + High proficiency with newsroom systems and production technology + Ability to build and maintain a network of reliable guest contacts across various industries + Must be flexible to work different shifts including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed + Comp starting at $68,650 commensurate with experience and skill level. + #LI-Onsite Nexstar Media Group, Inc.
