SEMICONDUCTOR EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (STARLINK) - LEVEL 4/5

SpaceX is developing a low latency, broadband internet system to meet the needs of consumers across the globe. Enabled by a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites, Starlink will provide fast, reliable internet to populations with little or no connectivity, including those in rural communities and places where existing services are too expensive or unreliable. We are looking for talented, creative, and driven technicians to drive manufacturing output and yield.  You will have ownership of one or more process areas and will have the opportunity to directly impact Starlink’s products.  You will have frequent interaction with engineering teams and leadership and will participate in developing and validating new equipment, processes, and technologies. The success of Starlink depends on the quality, reliability, cost, manufacturability, throughput, security, and user experience of the products that you will manufacture.

As a Semiconductor Equipment Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for the upkeep, preventative, & unscheduled maintenance of the production equipment for the custom silicon packaging team at Starlink. This is a versatile and highly skilled, hands on manufacturing job. The position will require extensive collaboration and critical thinking to troubleshoot unique equipment issues and develop quick solutions in a demanding environment.  The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast paced IS07 Cleanroom setting, has a wide array of complementary skills, and is motivated by Starlink’s mission to provide high speed, low latency connectivity across the globe.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform planned (Preventative) maintenance and unplanned (Andon) maintenance repairs of production line equipment that includes SMT, PnP, AOI, Reflow, Ball Attach, BGA Semi-Aqueous De-Fluxing Machinery, Compression Molding Equipment, Convection & Vacuum Bake Curing Ovens, Tape Mount, Microsaw & Die Singulation Equipment, Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) Sputtering Systems & Back End Semiconductor (RF)Test Equipment. Read and utilize schematics (mechanical/electrical/pneumatic) to troubleshoot systems down to the component level Read and safely execute lockout tagout (LOTO) procedures. Utilize diagnostic equipment to monitor equipment performance, diagnose root cause, and develop/implement solutions. Use schematics, hand tools, electrical gauges and common test equipment for calibration/diagnosis and repair of machinery or peripheral equipment Communicate with suppliers, specify requirements, get quotations, and submit purchase requisitions to procure necessary items to reduce/eliminate equipment downtime Provide feedback, work with maintenance, engineering, and vendor teams to identify root cause of failures associated with equipment downtime & drive solutions Conduct training for production personnel to implement Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) across 5 Process Modules. Operate material handling equipment including (but not limited to) scissor lifts, forklifts, hand trucks & electric dollies/hoists.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalency certificate 6+ years of maintenance technician experience in a manufacturing and production environment 6+ years of experience with repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and/or hydraulic systems

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

5+ years’ experience in back end semiconductor equipment maintenance & repair. 5+ years' experience as a maintenance technician, or field service engineer 3+ years’ experience in wafer or advanced packaging CVD/PVD Sputtering equipment maintenance. 3+ years’ experience with vacuum tools, Plasma, Reactive Ion Etch (RIE) troubleshooting & maintenance 3+ years’ experience troubleshooting and optimizing Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) Experience with multi-chamber/multi-axis machinery is a plus Excellent manual dexterity in order to repair and perform preventative maintenance on precision manufacturing equipment Ability to use power tools and hand tools, unique & custom test & measurement equipment for calibration & troubleshooting, micrometers, calipers, drop gauges, multimeters, tensiometers, vacuum testers, analytical testers & others. Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics and drawings Ability to write detailed repair reports when necessary (skilled with use of Microsoft Office Suite) Ability to maintain a safe and clean working environment while adhering to company policies, quality policies, and industry standards Experienced in Root Cause Analysis & Scientific Problem Solving (5 Why, 8D, A3) & Theory of Constraints (TOC) Detail oriented, organized, and able to demonstrate a high sense of urgency

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be willing to work overtime, and/or weekends as needed Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time Must be able to wear appropriate PPE for lab and Cleanroom Attire for IS07 Cleanroom (Bouffant Cap, Mask, Beard Cover, Frock, Nitrile Gloves, ESD Booties etc.). Must be comfortable with climbing up and down ladders, grasping, standing, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, carrying, crawling, and maneuvering in tight spaces

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:    
Equipment Maintenance Technician/Level 4: $38.00 - $48.00/hour    
Equipment Maintenance Technician/Level 5: $43.00 - $57.00/hour    

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
