Job Overview
The Senior, User Experience Design plays a key role in shaping the user experience for Macy’s.com, the Macy’s app, and Macy’s retail stores as part of Macy’s Customer Experience organization. This individual contributes to realizing Macy’s strategic vision by designing engaging, user-centered experiences. The Senior, User Experience Design delivers elegant, world-class solutions in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment. They solve business goals and user needs, influence cross-functional teams, and leverage research and data to inform design decisions.
In addition to serving as an individual contributor, the Senior, User Experience Design mentors UX Designers and Associate UX Designers, guiding their efforts to align with Macy’s strategic objectives.
What You Will Do
Design user experiences that align with business goals and user needs, incorporating KPIs and user success metrics. Collaborate effectively with managers, product managers, engineers, and researchers to define, conceptualize, and design user-facing products. Partner with UX leadership to define the domain experience and ensure deliverables align with the overall user experience design vision. Design for web, mobile apps, and in-store environments, ensuring a consistent and seamless user experience across platforms. Approach domain design challenges holistically: conceptualize new products and features, create storyboards, workflows, interactions, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and design standards based on business goals and user research. Work closely with the domain UX Manager and UX Lead to ensure deliverables align with the overall design system. Mentor user experience designers within the domain team. Demonstrate expertise in designing for mobile apps and responsive web experiences, with a strong understanding of user interface design processes and user-centered design methodology. Design user experiences that effectively balance business goals with user needs. Excel in creating high-fidelity mockups and prototypes while iterating on interface design and interaction flows based on user feedback. Utilize metrics, optimization techniques, and both qualitative and quantitative research to inform and validate design decisions. In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.
Skills You Will Need
User-Centered Design: Expertise in designing user experiences that align with business goals, user needs, and success metrics across web, mobile apps, and in-store platforms.
Design Execution: Proficient in creating high-fidelity mockups, prototypes, and iterative designs informed by user research and feedback.
Collaboration: Strong ability to work cross-functionally with managers, product managers, engineers, and researchers to define and deliver user-facing products.
Mentorship: Proven experience mentoring and guiding UX Designers to align with strategic objectives and design standards.
Research & Optimization: Skilled in leveraging metrics, qualitative/quantitative research, and optimization techniques to inform and validate design decisions.
Project Management: Solid time management, prioritization, and multitasking abilities to manage multiple projects effectively.
Communication & Influence: Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to advocate solutions to peers and leadership.
Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of design tools, responsive design principles, and MS Office programs.

Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
