The Senior 3PL Manager is an exciting, new role within our Supply Chain Operations team who will be responsible for overseeing the operational third-party logistics (3PL) warehouse in Texas – known as a Pool Point. This leader will be the on-site Nordstrom representative, and the main point of contact (POC) for the location, which will be operated and managed by a third-party provider. This role will be responsible for ensuring the 3PL meets established KPIs and metrics, managing the relationship with the 3PL, Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack stores, and fostering an environment of operational excellence and analytically driven continuous improvement to drive efficiency, service, and accuracy. This leader will partner with the 3PL provider to achieve throughput targets, and maintain SLAs goals, while delivering business fundamentals and managing flow of inventory throughout the site. This role will also be critical in creating and managing reporting and visibility for all metrics related to our partnership with the 3PL and Nordstrom, with a focus on Service, OS&D, Building Health, and Shrink metrics.
This is a highly visible role within Nordstrom that requires a seasoned operational leader who effectively balances the need for near term results with longer-term capability building. This individual has a unique blend of strategic, analytic, and collaboration skills, with demonstrated experience taking ideas from vision to execution. The role requires a highly proactive individual who can work autonomously with strong emotional intelligence, curiosity, and expertise in driving effectiveness and efficiency at scale. Success in this role comes through outstanding collaboration in the management of our supply chain, JWN’s business objectives, and serving our customers. This role will be based on-site at the 3PL in Dallas, and reports to the Vice President, Supply Chain Operations Support.
A Day in the Life...
Play an active role in the program management of the Pool Point initiative, ensuring all deliverables are met on time, meeting requirements/scope, and within budget.
Serve as the primary POC for Nordstrom at the Pool Point location, managing the relationship with the 3PL and ensuring they meet performance metrics. Maintain strong relationships with store management teams, ensuring seamless operations, service, and communication.
Partner to drive the flow and execution of the day-to-day operations of the 3PL location, ensuring efficient processing of 1.5M to 2M cartons annually.
Develop and track KPIs to measure the health of the 3PL operation. Build and publish regular reports and updates to senior leaders on Cost, Service, Capacity, Backlog, Inventory Accuracy, and Cycle Times.
Own financial outcomes of the site, including monthly invoicing, supply cost management, and monthly reconciliation with finance partners.
Ensure inventory traceability and accuracy and improve outbound costs and service to stores.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement a robust internal process and partnership with the 3PL. Influence teams to drive horizontal alignment across the enterprise, including DC Operations, Transportation, Inventory, Stores, and Finance.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiencies, service, and safety measures.
Ensure the Pool Point adopts future require and functionality within the Nordstrom Supply Chain Operations network.
Support the opening of 1-2 additional Pool Points within the next three years.
You Own this if You Have...
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field.
Proven experience in project management and leading cross-functional teams.
Strong understanding of 3PL operations and relationship management.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
Ability to analyze complex data and develop strategic plans.
Proficiency in supply chain management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Highly capable of navigating through ambiguity, leading independently, thinking big picture, and driving enterprise impact.
Excellent leadership, team development, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Ability to navigate and define processes in ambiguous situations.
