Purpose

This role will coordinate and administer the graduate program and perform course scheduling duties for the Department of Classics. This position is responsible for coordinating all phases of the graduate program, course scheduling, and related administrative duties.

ResponsibilitiesAssist the Graduate Advisor in advising students for registration.Assist with assigning TA and AI assignments, making recommendations to Graduate Advisor.Collaborate with faculty and chair to submit documents for course approval.Coordinate graduate admission process.Devise a schedule for courses to accommodate departmental and pedagogical needs, Registrar's regulations, and faculty preferences.Input course information in FaSET and monitor its accuracy.Keep records of graduate student progress toward degrees through Programs of Work and dept. files and databases. Coordinate and administer exams.Serve as authoritative information source for all graduate student inquiries for current, prospective, and former graduate students.Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years’ experience working with college students in an administrative or advising capacity. Experience as a GC or Course Scheduler at UT or elsewhere or working in a similar role at UT. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Professional demeanor, exhibiting patience and collegiality. Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments to meet deadlines. Reliable and dependable attendance. Ability to work effectively in a team and independently. Flexibility and a willingness to learn.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree and more than 5 years of experience working with college students in an administrative or advising capacity. Working knowledge of UT graduate student policies, procedures and administrative systems. Ability to successfully balance multiple projects and meet overlapping deadlines. Experience with Workday and other UT systems such as DEFINE and FRMS. International experience such as study of a foreign language, study abroad, international work experience, etc. Experience with course scheduling and related systems.

Salary Range

$65,000 + depending on qualifications
