Job Title: Senior Accountant – Indirect Tax

Location: Atlanta, GA (hybrid – 4 days/week onsite)

Position Summary

As part of the North America Controllership team, The Senior Accountant needs to have a working knowledge of the US sales tax laws to be able to interact with various internal and external stakeholders on an independent basis, consulting with the manager on specific issues. The Senior Tax Accountant also must be able to prepare account reconciliations for all US and Canadian GL indirect accounts. The Indirect Tax Senior Accountant will also assist with defense of sales tax audits in the US and Canada for NCR Atleos.

Duties will include generation of transactional reports from various enterprise resource systems like Oracle and SAP, reconciliation of sales tax returns and trial balances, and the pulling of source documentation, such as customer invoices, vendor invoices, and exemption certificates. The Indirect Tax Senior Accountant is also responsible for initial review and analysis of both sales and purchases transactions under audit review; and will participate in developing NCR Atleos’ tax positions in a clear and concise manner. In addition, the candidate will assist the manager with certain protests and appeals and coordinating with outside consultants assisting NCR Atleos with audits and other compliance related matters. The Senior Accountant may also assist the team with ad-hoc projects and assignments related to North American indirect tax compliance, including but not limited to property tax, unclaimed property reporting, and renewal of business licenses.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Prepare indirect account reconciliations for US sales tax accounts.

Responsible for resolving sales tax billing disputes and providing guidance on taxability of NCR Atleos’ products.

Assist with tax audits, inquiries, and correspondence with tax authorities.

Regularly communicate with the sales tax manager regarding projects and tasks.

Develop good working relationships with personnel within the Finance, Purchasing, Shared Services and other operations teams.

Monitor and implement changes in indirect tax laws and rates across jurisdictions.

Assist in developing and maintaining internal policies and procedures to streamline indirect tax compliance.

Provide guidance and training to cross-functional teams on indirect tax issues and requirements.

Use tax software and tools to automate processes and improve efficiency.

Provide subject matter expertise as part of corporate and tax initiatives impacting sales, use and excise taxes.

Support sales tax registration analysis including voluntary disclosure agreements as applicable.

Support the research and communication of sales tax impacts of large capital projects.

Perform administrative tasks in a timely manner.

Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance

4+ years of accounting experience; 1+ years as part of a dynamic multi-state sales tax team

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, SUMIF)

Ability to collaborate and build connections with various teams

Exceptional oral/written communication skills with ability to interact professionally with diverse groups

Ability to manage and make progress on multiple projects simultaneously

Ability to gather facts, research a tax position, and accurately communicate tax advice

Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Good working knowledge of multi-state sales tax rules and regulations; ability to apply these rules to transactions in the technology industry

Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment

Excellent work ethic - high standard of performance and production

Preferred Qualifications:

CPA or CMI; public accounting experience a plus

Experience in other areas of indirect tax (property tax, unclaimed property, VAT/GST)

Working knowledge of OneSource (Thompson Reuters) or similar sales tax decision making software, along with diverse enterprise system knowledge or adaptability
