Senior Accountant, Residential
Responsibilities The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Assistant Controller for a diverse group that includes affordable and market rate residential properties. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for financial reporting, all daily and period end accounting activities, performing general ledger analysis, cash management, cash flow analysis, assisting with preparing financial items, preparing annual year-end projections, and analyzing monthly and year-end budget variances. This position also involves collaboration with the compliance and property management teams and senior leaders to produce a variety of high quality, monthly and quarterly reports that are used companywide for reporting, analysis and planning. The Senior Accountant will also interface with independent auditors, investors, lenders, internal ownership and regulatory agencies. The ideal candidate is a highly entrepreneurial and self-motivated person who thrives in a dynamic work environment and demonstrates a flexible and adaptable work style that responds quickly and efficiently under tight deadlines. Perform daily accounting activities, cash management and coordination of accounts receivable and payable Prepare and review monthly bank reconciliations Prepare job cost requisitions, capital calls and advance requests Collaborate with Controller and business executives on monthly cash flow forecasting Maintain journal entries and perform general ledger analysis Perform quarterly and year-end closings and prepare supporting work papers for balance sheet and income statement accounts Assist with preparation of quarterly and year-end tax, cash and GAAP reporting Create reporting templates and formulate analysis using applications such as Excel or JD Edwards accounting software Assist with special projects, as needed Compensation $80,000 - $110,000 / year Annual performance based bonus Qualifications Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related discipline 3+ years of real estate accounting experience, preferably at the residential property level. CPA certification highly preferred Federal and local housing agency reporting experience Excellent analytical skills Advanced proficiency in MS Excel Clear communicator with ability to interact with senior leaders Superior organizational skills A mature professional with excellent judgment, interpersonal skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team Knowledge of JD Edwards, Yardi and/or RealPage or other property management related software, a plus Related values diversity in backgrounds and experiences.
