Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Prepare journal entries, accrual entries, bank reconciliations, balance sheet items reconciliations, and overall general ledger maintenance for a portfolio of 30 entitiesReview and pick up financial results prepared by subsidiariesPrepare, review, and ensure the monthly, quarterly and annually operational and reporting deliverables are in compliance; including but not limited to, balance sheet, income statement, statement of cashflow, and notes to financial statementsSupport the annual audit/review process, include effective communication with the audit teams, and coordination of requirements within the internal and external accounting and property management teamsSupport and review year-end recovery chargebacks (CAM Recoveries) and annual budgets prepared by property management teamsParticipate in monthly calls with the property managers to review financial resultsAssist with preparing year-end tax working papersEnsure Canadian and U.S tax payments are arranged timely (corporate tax, partnership tax, and commodity tax)Liaison with internal and external stakeholders, including property managers, asset managers and investment partners, to ensure operating efficiencies and building positive relationshipAnalyze and communicate ad hoc financial results to the businessAssist with business transactions such as acquisitions, dispositions, refinancing, etc.Provide training to the junior staffs on the teamOther ad-hoc projectsRequired Skills and Experience
5-7 years of professional work experience working with Canadian real estate/asset management organizationCanadian CPA designation requiredCommercial real estate accounting experience is an assetExperience with preparing journal entries and consolidated financial statementsExperience with preparing monthly or quarterly reporting packages for ShareholdersExperience working with internal and external auditorsExperience with preparing and reviewing Canadian and U.S. tax returns (partnership and corporate) and Canadian commodity tax returns is an assetSound knowledge of ASPEStrong interpersonal and communication skillsAdept at prioritizing tasks and managing timeAdvanced proficiency with MS Excel (eg. pivot tables, index, indirect, v/hlook ups)Experience with MRI and/or Quickbook is an assetBenefits of Employment: IKO recognizes that its success is due to the strength of its employees.
