How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. Under direction of the Controller, and in accordance with corporate policies and procedures, the Senior Accountant is responsible for providing accounting and analytical support for the Finance Department by applying principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. In addition, this position is responsible for Sarbanes Oxley compliance as well as internal and external audit support.

                                                                                                                                               

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

Financial Analysis and Reporting: Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations. Ensures proper controls of general ledger activity, timely preparation of reconciliations, and resolution of discrepancies. Performs additional financial close procedures, including preparing supplemental financial information. Provides ad hoc financial reports and analysis.

 

Regulatory Compliance and Audit: Acts as Sarbanes Oxley coordinator, ensuring timely and accurate compliance. Assists in both internal and external audits. Ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.

 

Asset Management and Accounting: Accountable for capital expenditure tracking and fixed asset accounting. Oversees all aspects of lease accounting ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Responsible for reconciling and balancing transactions with intercompany partners monthly.

 

Data Management and Tax Compliance: Maintains ERP master data changes (vendor, customer, general ledger, etc.). Prepares appropriate data for federal, state and local quarterly and year-end tax provisions and state sales and use tax returns.

 

Process Improvement and Documentation: Updates and documents accounting control procedures and assists with cross-training. Other duties as required. (This may encompass various tasks not falling directly under the above categories, such as administrative tasks or projects assigned as needed.)

 

 

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience

Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience in public and/or manufacturing accounting Demonstrates strong understanding US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley / internal controls. Cost accounting principles specific to manufacturing processes. Understands inventory management and controls. Demonstrates bias for action and continuous improvement mindset. Strong critical thinking skills and analytic abilities Excels at managing time, resources, and tasks efficiently. Demonstrates effective written, verbal and interpersonal skills. Advanced Microsoft Excel and data management skills

 

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

IFS, OneStream, Sage, and Vertex experience a plus

 

Education & Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required

 

Travel & Working Environment

8AM – 5PM, Monday – Friday Normal office environment
