SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
Summary Job Description
Responsible for assisting subsidiaries in producing and analyzing financial reports and formulating and calculating key metrics for determining optimal financial performance. Performs variance analysis. Processes reports to support account details and assists field personnel with issues and questions. The ability to resolve complex accounting issues, work under pressure and multitask is essential. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting and three to five years of experience. CPA certified or exam eligible. Reports to Department Supervisor or Manager.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities
Ensures financial statements are maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Assists departments and subsidiaries with account analysis and researchAnalyzes basic financial reports and key performance indicators and makes recommendations relative to balance sheet and P&L statements implicationsAnalyzes the results of the subsidiary performance against historical data and reports results to subsidiary upper and executive managementEvaluates trends, identifies and investigates unusual or unexpected account variancesGenerates daily and monthly reports to assist in above duties and prepares other management and statutory reports, as requiredMakes recommendations to resolve issues and makes corrections, as necessarySeeks opportunities to modify or enhance current processes and ensures processes are documented and up-to-datePerforms other accounting research as neededInterface with external/internal auditors in managing requests concerning processes and deliverablesPromotes teamwork between operational groups and departmentsAssists the accounting team with monthly responsibilitiesPerforms and/or reviews account reconciliations, as neededOther projects as assignedQualifications
Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance combined with 3 – 5 years accounting/finance experienceCPA or pursuing certificationHeavily skilled in general ledger reconciliationsExtensive knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures as relates to general ledger accountingStrong analytical skills and problem solving abilityHighly detail oriented and ability to multitask and meet assigned deadlinesCritical thinking skills with timely, effective decision makingAbility to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectivesExcellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally and effectively with colleagues and global customers/clients including Executive personnel & Directors.Ability to facilitate meaningful discussion and influence outcomes using reasoning and accounting logic.PeopleSoft experience preferredAbility to travel locally, regionally and nationally as required.Not the right fit?
