Position Summary

ECPI University, a leading higher educational institution, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant based in our University Administration building in Virginia Beach, VA.

Responsibilities:

Update and maintain financial records relating to accounts receivable; analyze information to prepare reports; balance sheet reconciliations, cash account reconciliations, inventory and fixed asset reconciliations; interact with other members of the University administrative staff and clients to ensure accounting processes and procedures are being followed. Maintenance and reconciliation of client account ledgers. Perform reconciliations of banking activity. Process and reconcile payments from multiple sources (cash, ACH, credit card, etc.) Execute data entry and reconciliation for bank account(s). Prepare audit schedules as required for multiple 3rd parties (external auditors, banking information, etc.) Work on select sub-systems (Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Inventory, Collections) as needed for monthly reconciliation. Interact with University and campus administrative staff regarding accounting processes and procedures Other Accounting duties as necessary.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; CPA preferred. Work experience to include general ledger accounting including, but not limited to, journal entry, bank reconciliation, deposit reconciliation, B2B collections and cost analysis; two years preferred. Previous experience in Microsoft General Dynamics (Great Plains) system a plus.

Skills/Abilities:

Ability to quickly master new concepts, programs and computer applications High proficiency with MS Office, specifically Excel Ability to organize and prioritize workflow Ability to work efficiently with high level of accuracy Ability to meet deadlines Ability to work with minimal supervision Willingness to learn and ask questions
