As Senior Accountant you will work closely with the CFO, be involved with all aspects of the business and be groomed to be the future Controller! Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in supporting the firm’s financial operations and reporting processes. This individual will work closely with senior leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, manage accounting functions, and assist with regulatory compliance for the firm’s investments and operations. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, proactive, and strategic thinker with a strong foundation in accounting and experience in private equity or investment firms.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Financial Reporting: Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
+ Investment Accounting: Oversee the accounting and reporting for private equity investments, including fund structures, valuations, and distributions.
+ Month-End and Year-End Close: Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements.
+ Regulatory Compliance: Assist with compliance related to SEC filings, tax filings, and other regulatory requirements specific to private equity investments.
+ Audit Support: Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations as needed.
+ Portfolio Management: Provide timely and accurate financial analysis and reports for the firm’s portfolio companies, helping to evaluate performance and support decision-making.
+ Process Improvement: Identify and recommend process improvements to streamline accounting functions and increase operational efficiency.
+ Ad-hoc Projects: Support various special projects, including due diligence for new investments, forecasting, and budgeting.
Requirements
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
+ CPA designation or parts passed is highly preferred.
+ 2+ years of accounting or auditing experience in private equity, fund accounting or fund administration.
+ Strong understanding of GAAP, investment accounting, and private equity fund structures.
+ Experience with financial modeling, reporting, and analysis.
+ Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel (experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar systems a plus).
+ Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
+ Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growing environment and adapt to changing priorities.
