We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join a well established and growing commerical real estate firm located in Independence. The position is fully on-site and will be responsible for overseeing and managing financial transactions, preparing detailed financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role is integral to the smooth financial operation of our business, providing crucial support to both internal teams and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and industry standards. Generate detailed reports on financial performance and variances.General Ledger Management: Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger, including managing journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments. Ensure accurate recording of all transactions and resolve discrepancies.Account Reconciliation: Perform complex account reconciliations and ensure that all accounts are properly balanced and reconciled on a regular basis.Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, and decision-making processes. Provide insights into financial performance and operational efficiencies.Compliance and Controls: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, accounting standards, and internal controls. Prepare for and coordinate audits, and address any issues or findings.Tax Preparation: Assist with tax preparation and filing, including corporate income tax, property tax, and other relevant taxes. Work with external tax advisors as needed.Cash Flow Management: Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs. Prepare cash flow forecasts and reports.Property Management Accounting: Oversee accounting functions related to property management, including rent collections, tenant billing, operating expense reimbursements, and lease administration.Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements within the accounting function. Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.Ad Hoc Projects: Participate in special projects and initiatives as required, including system implementations, process redesigns, and financial modeling.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on commercial real estate preferred. Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, general ledger management, and account reconciliation.Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Experience with ERP systems is a plus.Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and analysis.Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
