**Job Summary:**
**Key Responsibilities:**
Financial Accounting & Reconciliations (60%)
+ Complete federal letter of credit draws for projects with Health and Human Services (mainly NIH), Department of Education, and the National Science Foundation.
+ Reconcile billable draw to cash balance issues with the Post Award Manager on a regular basis for resolution.
+ Reconcile quarterly Letters of Credit draws and balances to federal authorizations via federal systems and university data.
+ Process all returns for Letter of Credit projects. This may be done via federal draw systems or may require manual payment is issued along with correspondence for payment application.
+ Work with Financial Aid Office for updates, reconciliation and other draw or balance related requests.
+ Reconcile OGC clearing projects on a monthly basis.
+ Fiscal year end accruals for financial aid department of education project balances.
Accounts Receivable (40%)
+ As a backup for the AR team, the following duties are related to the tracking and posting of payments for applications.
+ Research and identify incoming funds, log payment information in Excel and apply payments via the AR module in PeopleSoft.
+ Create on demand invoices for advance, autopay, and department invoiced awards to apply payments.
+ Serve as a checkpoint to review all postings for completeness and make corrections needed as a result of Office of Grants and Contracts clearing account reconciliation.
+ Perform all record keeping associated with incoming payments.
+ Research and resolve customer service inquiries and communicate as necessary as they relate to payments with internal customers. This may include communicating with department personnel, other campuses, and/or sponsors.
+ Create journal entries to transfer funds that have been identified as non-sponsored projects and/or funds that belong to one of the other campuses.
+ Process payment transfer requests submitted via department and/or Office of Grants and Contracts Post Award personnel and ensures the required documentation is provided.
+ Research payments received have not been identified. When payment is unsuccessful at being identified, this position creates Payment Vouchers to return unclaimed funds to the payee.

**Minimum Qualifications**
+ A bachelor's degree in business administration, business, finance, accounting, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
+ Substitution: Two years of professional level accounting, billing, accounts receivable, or accounts payable experience.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Prior experience at a Higher Education Institution or State of Colorado Agency.
+ Experience with University of Colorado systems, reporting, finance, and PeopleSoft System.
+ Experience reviewing financial statements and financial transactions.

+ Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
+ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

The University of Colorado has a large portfolio of sponsored research with great variety, including Federal NIH grants, Federal NSF grants, many other Federal grants, Federal contracts, State grants, State contracts, private industry clinical trials, association grants and much more.The Office of Grants and Contracts (OGC) is responsible for the central administration of research awards and provides service to principal research investigators and administrators for the purpose of obtaining and administering extramural funds in compliance with university and sponsor guidelines. This position is part of the Accounts Receivable team in the Office of Grants and Contracts and is responsible for administering initial cash receipts or adjusting entries, and refunds for any grant or contract coming into the CU Denver and Anschutz Medical campuses. This is a senior position on the team and will reconcile the OGC clearing project which houses all payments received prior to posting to a sponsored or other project. Along with team responsibilities, this position is mainly responsible for completing federal letter of credit draws and payment application for projects with Health and Human Services (mainly NIH), Department of Education, and National Science Foundation. The draws must be reconciled to awards on a quarterly basis.
