Senior Accountant

Marcus Theatres is in search of a Senior Accountant to join our team. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for participating in the monthly close process and the production of financial information as well as performing account reconciliations, posting journal entries, and performing initial analysis of financial data before submission to Theatres’ Accounting leadership.  With Marcus being an SEC filer required to produce complete and accurate GAAP reporting, the ideal candidate will have some combination of public accounting experience with a large or mid-sized firm and/or experience with another public company or large private company. The right individual for this role must enjoy working in a fast paced and deadline oriented environment where accuracy is a must.

What you will be doing:

Provide accounting, financial and analytical support to multiple theatre operations, while also supporting administrative departments at the corporate office. Reconcile balance-sheet accounts for various corporate entities and identify/resolve variances in a timely manner. Work closely with executives, controllers, and accounting staff to ensure departmental expenses are being monitored and recorded appropriately. Perform variance analysis to forecasted and budgeted results. Assist the Director of Accounting in preparation and presentation of the annual budget. Assist in ad-hoc projects at the direction of the Director of Finance.

Who we are looking for: 

2-3+ years of accounting and/or finance experience Bachelor’s (or advanced) Degree in Accounting preferred, CPA or equivalent experience helpful Strong analytical skills, comprehension of accounting processes and technical accounting topics, and the ability to communicate the results of analysis performed; Ability to work both independently and in a team environment to solve complex problems Possess strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Be well-organized in order to successfully manage and prioritize multiple tasks while remaining detail oriented.  Working knowledge of GAAP and accrual accounting Knowledge of enterprise-level accounting software systems is a plus (PeopleSoft) Willing and motivated to learn new skills, tasks and software systems to meet the changing demands of the entertainment industry
