Hybrid work

Udemy is headquartered in San Francisco with global offices in Australia, India, Ireland, Türkiye, and other US locations. Our robust hybrid work model spans San Francisco, Denver, Ankara, Dublin, and Melbourne.

This hybrid position requires two days per week in our Denver office.

About this role

The Senior Accountant role reports to the Accounting Manager and will help oversee all aspects of the end to end Payroll Accounting function for several global Udemy entities.  Udemy is growing and this role will help build processes, systems, problem solve and also help manage and mentor junior team members.

 

What you'll be doing:

Own your part in the initiative to reduce month-end close by one day and develop strategies to improve accounting operations efficiencies, effectiveness, and scalability, including the development and execution of policy, processes, and systems changes Prepare, review and post payroll journal entries including PTO, benefits, payroll accruals, bonus, equity (ESPP & RSU’s), commissions, 401(k), etc. into the accounting system for our multiple entities in multiple currencies Own monthly financial statements and trend analysis for your areas to ensure completeness, timeliness and accuracy of results.  Partner closely with cross functional teams such as benefits, compensation, revenue operations, equity and legal on projects that impact all teams and relevant accounting impacts and implementations.  Collaborate with the Director of SOX to ensure a robust and effective controls environment over your impacted areas Assist and ensure accounting systems scaling and ensuring all systems are being used to their full functionality.  Support internal/external audits of the company's financial statements, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor questions and requests Work on ad-hoc projects on an as needed basis

 

What you’ll have

4+ years of progressive accounting experience, Big 4 public accounting firm experience a plus Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related degree CPA certification preferred Experience in NetSuite preferred Experience in Alteryx is preferred  Strong experience and knowledge in U.S. GAAP and SOX internal controls Experience with accounting for payroll related items preferred
