Senior Accountant
Job Title: Senior AccountantJob Description We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing general accounting functions, month-end and year-end close processes, financial analysis, audit and compliance, and process improvement. This role requires a strong understanding of GAAP, excellent analytical skills, and proficiency in accounting software and Excel. Responsibilities + Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. + Perform general ledger account reconciliations and maintain supporting documentation. + Manage accruals, prepaids, and fixed assets schedules. + Conduct bank reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial records. + Calculate physician compensation and ensure proper documentation and reporting. + Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes. + Review journal entries for accuracy and compliance with GAAP. + Perform complex calculations for physician productivity and compensation analysis. + Assist in analyzing variances in financial results against budgets and forecasts. + Provide recommendations to improve financial performance and reduce costs. + Support internal and external audits by preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries. + Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies. + Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and implement best practices. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial reporting and systems. + Provide support for special projects, ad-hoc reporting, and analysis as needed. + Mentor and support junior accounting staff, if applicable. Essential Skills + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. + 5+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in the healthcare industry. + Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards. + Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.). + Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. + Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. + Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. + Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively. Additional Skills & Qualifications + CPA or CMA certification a plus. + Familiarity with financial reporting tools is a plus. + Experience with GP Dynamics is highly desirable. Work Environment Standard office environment with occasional extended hours to meet deadlines. Hybrid or remote work options may be available, depending on company policy. Fully remote work is available, however, the candidate must be located in the San Diego area and may need to go into the office for meetings or as requested.
