Job Description
The Senior Accountant will work closely with the team to assist with month-end and year-end close processes. The ideal candidate will also play a critical role in ensuring the organization maintains a healthy cash flow by monitoring outstanding accounts receivable balances and implementing effective collection strategies. This position requires at least 3 years of experience in financial reporting, and a CPA designation.
ResponsibilitiesPrepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements including multi-entity consolidation.Perform variance analysis between actual, budgeted, and prior period results, and provide explanations for significant variances.Perform month-end close tasks timely and accurately as assigned.Assist in reconciling balance sheet accounts monthly.Assist with annual or tax audits.Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.Ensure compliance with GAAP principles.Liaise with the controller and department managers to improve financial processes.Monitor the accounts receivable aging reports to identify overdue accounts and prioritize collection efforts.Provide copies of invoices and account information to outside sales representatives and customers.Send out monthly customer statements.Collect tax-exempt certificates from sales tax-exempt customers.Convert customers to ACH payments.Stay on top of aged accounts and coordinate with the VP of Sales for follow-ups.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Accounting.CPA certification.Minimum of 3 years experience as a financial reporting specialist or senior accountant.Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures.In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Familiarity with financial accounting statements.Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.Advanced MS Excel skills including vlookups and pivot tables.Accuracy and attention to detail.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with Avante accounting system is a plus.Strong accounting skills with GAAP knowledge.Experience reviewing reports and providing suggestions.Work Environment
The position is based in Fairfield, NJ and requires full-time, in-office attendance. Hybrid work may be considered after the first 90 days, allowing for 1-2 days from home per week.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $105000.00
This position will be bonus eligible up to 10% and will receive company benefits. That is including: vision, medical, dental and a 401k as well.
