The Senior Accountant will partner with the Director of Accounting to oversee all tax-related duties for the organization. This includes personal property tax filings, sales and use tax filings for multiple states, and federal income tax filings. The role also involves coordinating with external auditors as needed and managing extensive month-end close tasks. A solid technical accounting background and intermediate proficiency in Excel are essential. Experience with various operating systems is advantageous. Primary Responsibilities: + Prepare, review, and reconcile various GL accounts. + Compile state and local annual tax reports, business tax, and census reporting. + Prepare and reconcile monthly sales and use tax and quarterly Canadian sales tax (GST/PST). + Assist with federal and state audits as necessary. + Prepare various month-end close entries. + Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. Background Required: + 3-5 years of experience in General Ledger (GL) accounting with a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, or 7-10+ years of experience without a bachelor's degree. + Ability to collaborate effectively in a high-achieving, goal-driven team environment. + Proficiency in handling high-volume GL account reconciliations (thousands of line items), using vlookups and pivot tables. Work Environment: This position is fully on-site with the possibility of a hybrid schedule once training is complete. The role is based in Virginia Beach, VA.
