Job Title: Senior Accountant

Salary Range: $75,000–$90,000 annually (dependent on experience and qualifications)

 

Job Overview:

Axis Automation, a growing automated solutions provider, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated full-time Senior Accountant in our Walker, MI office. Reporting to the Manager of Shared Services, the Senior Accountant will take ownership of the month-end close process – preparing and executing month end journal entries, performing account reconciliations – and support Accounting Department financial reporting and analysis (FP&A), liaising with operation departments as needed.

The ideal candidate for this position is a self-starter with phenomenal communication skills, impeccable accuracy and attention to details, and excels at time management. With a focus on empowering Axis with accurate, up-to-date financial information, this role has the opportunity to grow into a Controller role depending on performance and business needs.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Month-End Close Process

Compile Monthly WIP Schedule, incorporating current budget estimates for active projects. Review and analyze general ledger accounts for accuracy and completeness. Reconcile all balance sheet accounts (e.g., bank accounts, credit cards, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, etc.). Investigate and resolve discrepancies in reconciliations promptly. Prepare and post standard month end journal entries, maintaining system generated repeat journal entries as needed. Generate monthly financial statements for managerial review.

Other Accounting Responsibilities

Review and prepare accounts payable runs for approval. Prepare and execute weekly payroll journal entries. Calculate and record commission and bonus payments, tuition and training reimbursement for eligible employees. Maintain and update internal controls and accounting policies as needed. Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as needed.

 

Qualifications

Experience: 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a mid-sized business environment or in automation, construction, or similar industry. Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles. Experience with month-end close and financial reporting processes. Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting or ERP software. Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and financial modeling). Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
