JOB SUMMARY\n

Working in a team environment, the Senior Accountant plans, coordinates and performs various fiscal and accounting functions of the City of Conroe. Duties are primarily relative to general accounting, accounts payable and receivable and payroll; however, other areas are assigned on as needed basis.\n

QUALIFICATIONS\n

Education and Experience:\n

Bachelor's degree in accounting and five years of accounting experience required. Governmental Accounting experience is preferred.\n

Special Requirements:\n

Analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills required. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred. Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) a plus. 5 years of experience with Microsoft Office Products including MS Word and MS Excel required.\n

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: \n\nKnowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).\nKnowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.\nKnowledge of automated financial management software packages.\nKnowledge of governmental accounting principles and practices.\nSkill in mathematics, analyzing and organization.\nAbility to clearly and effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, including the proper use grammar, punctuation, sentence structure and good public speaking.\nAbility to reconcile spreadsheets and general ledger accounts to source documents.\nAbility to analyze, identify and resolve variances.\nAbility to exercise good judgment, make competent decisions, handle multiple projects, prioritize and organize work assignments, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure and stress.\n\n

PHYSICAL DEMANDS\n

The work is sedentary and requires the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and\/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: fingering, hearing, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, talking and visual acuity.\n
