Compensation includes a base salary of $79,400.00 - $119,000.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Job Description

Cox Communications is hiring a Senior Accountant on the Enterprise Accounting Services team. This is a role offers a unique blend of traditional accounting duties with a focus on innovation, automation, and process improvement. It has the typical accounting responsibilities including completing month end close, asset management and providing OPEX/CAPEX guidance; however, this person will look to automate the day to day operations and metrics so that more time can be spent providing information to our business partners helping drive better business decisions. This is an opportunity to think strategically and drive change within an accounting function.

The Senior Accountant will report to the Manager, Accounting and will be responsible for Accounting Operations as well as supporting the Finance and Accounting leadership with reporting and analytics. The Senior Accountant is a key business partner with the business functional teams and a key liaison between Enterprise Accounting and functional business areas.  

Responsibilities include, but are not limited:

Maintain complete and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other Federal and State regulations

Perform advanced data analyze to uncover opportunities for automation and robotics, leveraging advanced analysis techniques to drive innovative solutions

Provide excellent customer service to our business partners to help drive good business decision making including reporting on actuals of financials and variances to forecast explanations

Leads end to end ownership of multiple significant accounting processes to ensure consistent and accurate financial statements, identify anomalies and make recommendations

Excellent attention to detail

Effectively communicate monthly results

Preparation of documents for review by outside auditors

Provide subject matter expertise within our area of focus; resolve questions and/or problems

Develop business partnerships to facilitate and maintain consistent and accurate financial statements

Monitor and optimize business processes by reviewing operational & financial processes to ensure compliance and effectiveness, identify anomalies and make recommendations

Provide ad-hoc analysis based on customer need

Assist with policy updates, development and compliance

Create and maintain key metrics and monitor KPIs.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 4+ years of experience preferred in related field (Finance, Accounting, Business, IT, etc.). A candidate may also have a Master's Degree with 2+ years of experience or a Ph.D. with 1+ year of experience. A non-degreed candidate will have 8+ years of experience.

CPA preferred

Experience working with a centralized or shared services accounting environment preferred.

Proficient in Microsoft products (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Oracle and other tools. OneStream, BlackLine and ICOMS preferred.

Excellent interpersonal, leadership, presentation, and collaborative skills to work effectively with cross-functional partners throughout  the organization

Team player, reliable, flexible, and active participant on the team

Ability to multi-task and work in a challenging fast paced changing environment
