Senior Accountant
Description We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Senior Accountant for a Contract-to-Hire opportunity. This hybrid role requires 3 days onsite per week and offers hands-on experience in financial reporting, compliance, and process optimization. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting expertise and a proven ability to navigate complex financial systems while ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies. This role involves working collaboratively with the finance team to enhance existing procedures, improve operational efficiency, and support critical accounting functions, including external statutory filings, account reconciliations, and audit preparation. Key Responsibilities: + Manage accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close procedures for balance sheet and income statement accounts. + Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and detailed analyses to ensure reporting accuracy. + Support the preparation of footnotes and schedules for external statutory filings while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. + Apply GAAP principles and internal accounting policies to complex transactions and prepare clear documentation (e.g., white papers) on interpretations and conclusions. + Provide support for audit schedules during quarter-end and year-end processes. + Review significant contracts to determine proper accounting treatment in accordance with US GAAP standards. + Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. + Contribute to enhancing existing accounting procedures and ensuring effective internal controls. + Assist with ad-hoc projects and collaborate on cross-functional tasks as required. Requirements + Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. + Experience: At least 5+ years of relevant accounting experience within a publicly traded company and/or a Big Four accounting firm with increasing levels of responsibility. + Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated experience with financial systems and software, such as SAP, NetSuite, Coupa, and other related systems. + Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat. + Strong knowledge of GAAP and technical accounting principles. + Proven ability to identify and drive process improvements.
