As a Senior Accountant, you will play an integral role in the accounting processes and financial operations of the organization. Key duties include: + Month-End Close: Perform reconciliations, prepare journal entries, and ensure timely and accurate month-end close processes. + Financial Statements: Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and non-profit accounting standards. + Grant Management: Monitor and track grant revenues and expenditures, ensuring compliance with grantor restrictions and reporting requirements. + Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in developing, maintaining, and analyzing the organization's budget and forecasts, including variance analyses. + Audit Support: Serve as a primary point of contact during audits, ensuring the preparation of necessary schedules and documentation. + Internal Controls: Help monitor and maintain internal control policies and procedures to safeguard assets and ensure compliance. + Cross-Department Collaboration: Partner with program directors and staff to ensure accurate reporting and support financial decision-making. Requirements The ideal candidate will bring a robust background in accounting, a commitment to excellence, and a heart for non-profit work. Specific qualifications include: + Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required). CPA certification is strongly preferred. + Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role. Prior non-profit accounting experience is a strong plus. + Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of accounting software (e.g., Blackbaud, NetSuite, or QuickBooks) and strong Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs). + Knowledge Base: Familiarity with GAAP, fund accounting, and grant compliance regulations. + Attention to Detail: Accuracy, efficiency, and a commitment to meeting deadlines. + Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues at all levels. + Problem-Solving: Proactive approach to identifying and resolving financial challenges.
