Senior Accountant
Description We are seeking a Senior Accountant for a contract opportunity in the manufacturing industry. The senior accountant is responsible for overseeing and managing various aspects of financial accounting, including financial reporting, general ledger management, reconciliation of accounts, budgeting, and compliance with financial regulations. They provide support to the accounting team and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data, contributing to the strategic goals of the organization. Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting & Analysis: + Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. + Analyze financial data and provide recommendations for improvements or corrections. + Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations (e.g., GAAP, IFRS). General Ledger Management: + Maintain the general ledger and ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded. + Review and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles. + Reconciliations: Perform monthly account reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts. + Identify discrepancies and resolve issues in a timely manner. Audit & Compliance: + Assist in the preparation and coordination of audits. + Ensure timely filing of tax returns and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. + Monitor internal controls to ensure adherence to financial policies. Budgeting & Forecasting: + Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the company’s budget. + Analyze budget variances and prepare forecasts for management. + Provide guidance on accounting best practices, policies, and procedures. Requirements Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required). CPA or other relevant detail oriented certifications (preferred). Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance. Proven experience with financial reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger functions. Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel. Skills: Strong understanding of accounting principles and regulations. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
