Description
Our client is seeking an accomplished and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team within the construction industry. As a key member of the accounting department, the Senior Accountant will lead all operational accounting functions, play a pivotal role in financial reporting, oversee construction-specific processes, and provide leadership to ensure accounting excellence. This is an onsite position in Jersey City offering excellent compensation and benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Operational Accounting Leadership: Oversee all daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with established practices.
+ Financial Reporting: Prepare comprehensive financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow analyses.
+ AIA Billing & Construction Documentation: Manage all aspects of AIA billing, accounts receivable, and documentation requirements unique to the construction and general contractor industries.
+ Payroll Oversight: Supervise and ensure the accuracy of union payroll processes, staying current with union agreements and regulatory requirements.
+ Regulatory Reporting & Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations and assist in tax planning strategies.
+ Internal Controls Evaluation: Regularly assess and improve internal accounting systems and controls to mitigate risk and enhance operational efficiency.
+ Staff Leadership: Hire, train, and mentor staff accountants, fostering a collaborative and high-performing accounting team.
+ Analytical Support: Leverage strong analytical skills to identify trends, resolve challenges, and provide actionable insights to the CFO and executive leadership.
Requirements
Requirements:
+ Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA designation preferred).
+ Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong background in the construction or general contractor industry.
+ Technical Skills: In-depth understanding of AIA billing, union payroll processes, and construction documentation. Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and advanced Excel skills is a plus.
+ Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with a proven track record of working effectively across departments and with senior leadership.
+ Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and motivate a team while maintaining a hands-on approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
+ Compliance Knowledge: Solid foundation in regulatory reporting, tax planning, and compliance as it pertains to the construction industry.
