Senior Accountant (Healthcare)
Job Title: Senior Accountant - Healthcare
Job Summary:The Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing the financial operations within the healthcare sector. This position requires a deep understanding of healthcare accounting practices, strong analytical skills, and the ability to handle complex financial tasks. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in healthcare finance, including familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and Analysis:Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.Conduct variance analysis and prepare detailed explanations for significant fluctuations.Budgeting and Forecasting:Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts.Monitor budget performance and analyze variances between actual and budgeted figures.Compliance and Regulatory:Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, CMS guidelines, and other relevant standards.Coordinate with external auditors and ensure timely and accurate completion of audits.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant accounting standards and regulations.General Ledger Management:Oversee and manage general ledger accounting functions, including month-end and year-end closing processes.Reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.Accounts Payable and Receivable:Supervise the processing of accounts payable and receivable transactions.Ensure accurate and timely invoicing and collection of payments.Internal Controls:Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.Conduct periodic reviews of accounting processes and procedures to identify areas for improvement.Staff Supervision and Development:Mentor and supervise junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support as needed.Conduct performance evaluations and identify training and development opportunities for team members.Qualifications:Education:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.Experience:Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a healthcare setting.Strong knowledge of healthcare financial regulations and compliance requirements.Skills:Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
