Summary of Position:\n

Provide primary accounting support for the company's critical accounting functions while also working with the Senior Director of Accounting and other members of the accounting team to support the company's overall operations.\n

Major Areas of Accountability:\n\nWorks with other members of the accounting team to ensure the integrity and timeliness of accounting reports and other financial information. This includes monthly closing, financial report preparation, balance sheet management and reviewing general ledger-related transactions.\nWorks with other departments in the company to ensure proper accounting and reporting of activities.\nWorks closely with operations to achieve effective financial management and controls.\nPrepares year-end audit schedules and account reconciliations and provides explanations as needed.\nAssists Leadership with ad hoc analyses as requested.\nPrepares and files sales and use tax returns utilizing Avalara - approximately 70 returns monthly.\nHandle set-up of new retail stores to include filing appropriate applications for business licenses & permits and merchant numbers for credit card payments.\nManage all credit cards and other third-party payment accounts to ensure receipt of payments.\nAnnual renewal of store business licenses.\nManages fixed assets and prepares capital expenditure reports for management and board reporting.\nFiles personal property taxes for Rockler Retail Group.\nManages retail leases ensuring timely monthly payments to landlords including CAM & Tax reconciliations.\nAttendance is an essential function of this position, and we rely on all our employees to be at work during their scheduled shift.\n\n

Requirements for Position:\n\nBachelor's degree in accounting or finance with 5+ years of overall accounting experience.\nHighly organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.\nStrong written and oral communication skills.\nExperience filing sales tax returns preferred.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. \nExperience working with retail companies preferred.\nExperience with Microsoft Dynamics AX or similar ERP systems preferred.\nExperience writing and\/or using SQL queries a plus.\nMust be a local candidate.\n\n
