Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented professional to join our team in Commercial Accounting Operations. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of commercial leases with corporate tenants. While an accounting background is preferred, it is not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage balance sheet accounts and sub-ledgers, ensuring accuracy and compliance.Portfolio accounting and management.Oversee quarter-end processes, including reconciliations, cash flow management, and budget forecasting.

Qualifications:

Familiarity with commercial leases is a plus.Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to our company culture.

Nationwide Realty Investors (NRI), the real estate development affiliate of Nationwide, is a nationally recognized developer of large, complex, mixed-use projects with developments and investments in office, retail, sports and entertainment venues, hospitality and residential properties.

As a Senior Accountant, you'll perform complex accounting functions or responsibilities associated with advanced accounting. We'll count on you to use advanced accounting principles and techniques to acquire, assemble, evaluate, interpret, record and analyze financial data of all types and sources ultimately utilized in the preparation of statements for the various regulatory and statutory authorities and for internal management at all levels.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Prepares and analyzes financial documents for the company(ies) and/or business areas as assigned and required.

Reviews, as requested, for accuracy, proper documentation and completeness, all reports, forms and data provided for the proper and accurate submission of required reports and financial documents, both internal and external.

Maintains accounting records as needed for the coordination, preparation and submission of the various required reports.

Develops and submits complex accounting and financial transactions required to insure accurate reporting.

Corresponds with various field staff or outside sources concerning difficulties, discrepancies or other matters as advised and needed.

Keeps current on changes to GAAP and/or STAT requirements, which will ultimately impact the submission of required reports and financial documents.

Participates in development of changes to area(s) of responsibility that would enhance, improve or facilitate job performance, processing or workflow.

Participates in the development and design of new systems and processes.

Assists in the preparation and analysis of complex pro-forma financial information required for compliance with new requirements, situations or reinsurance agreements.

Completes, as assigned, reports or projects in an accurate manner including proper documentation.

Prepares state and supplemental reporting requirements as assigned and required.

Helps prepare complex financial information provided to external auditors, IRS and state examiners and responds to questions, as required.

Prepares special reports and presentations as advised.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Accounting Supervisor or Manager.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies in accounting or finance; accounting major and degree preferred.

Experience: Four years of related experience in insurance accounting.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: GAAP and/or STAT knowledge, practices and procedures. Insurance and/or business area regulatory requirements. Financial statement preparation. Verbal and written communication skills for contact with all levels of management or external entities. Ability to analyze complex and advanced reporting requirements and financial data to determine proper compliance and disposition. Ability to effectively operate a personal computer and related accounting, financial analysis and business software.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.
