Senior Accountant (Technical Accounting)
POSITION SUMMARY: This position report to the Director, Technical Accounting & SEC Reporting. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, accumulating data to prepare SEC filings, analyzing large data sets to recommend journal entries and offer operational insight, review Company contracts for U.S. GAAP implications and other ad-hoc duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: + Coordinate with finance, accounting and third parties to create supporting schedules that will be used to populate the financial statements, footnotes and Management’s Discussion and Analysis in Form 10-Q and 10-K filings + Perform complex data analyses using Microsoft Excel to prepare journal entries + Perform quarterly fluctuation analysis on the balance sheet, income statement and statement of cash flows + Review and document Company contracts and agreements and identify the applicable U.S. GAAP implications + Identify and improve the accounting and reporting processes, with the ability to lead process improvement initiatives + Ensure compliance with all internal controls, including those for Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) and external regulations + Support Director, Technical Accounting & SEC Reporting in financial statement audits and internal audits + Perform other job-related duties as assigned CORE COMPETENCIES: To perform the job successfully, the individual should demonstrate competencies in performing the essential functions of this position by performing satisfactorily in each of these competencies. + Problem Solving : Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, gathers and reviews information appropriately. Leads consensus by involving all stakeholders, facilitating their understanding of differences, agreeing on requirements and constraints, and developing the best solution. + Safety Culture: Adheres to the NuScale Safety culture and is expected to model safe behavior and influence peers to meet high standards. + Quality Assurance: Commits to the understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1 preferred. MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES: + Education: A minimum of a B.S. degree in Accounting is required . Candidates with an advanced degree, Certified Public Accountant designation or Certified Management Accountant designation will be given priority consideration. + Experience: Minimum of 5 years of full-time working experience is required, with at least 3 years in an accounting related field, within a SOX compliant accounting organization or a public accounting firm. The following skills and abilities are required: + Demonstrated proficiency of accounting practices in a multi-company environment adhering to SOX + Demonstrated proficiency identifying and driving process improvement initiatives + Microsoft Dynamics SL, Oracle or other ERP system experience in a SOX environment + Detailed knowledge an understanding of US GAAP + Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel + Must be able to analyze operational results and produce work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. + Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and a proven ability to work successfully on cross-functional teams + Industry Requirements : Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
