Senior Accounting Analyst General and Technical Accounting Job ID: 10221 Business Unit: MTA Headquarters Location: New York, NY, United States Regular/Temporary: Regular Department: General and Technical Accting Date Posted: Jan 21, 2025 Description JOB TITLE : Senior Accounting Analyst – General & Technical Accounting SALARY RANGE : $86,994 -$96,957 HAY POINTS : 451 DEPT/DIV : MTA Controller’s Office/General & Technical Accounting SUPERVISOR : Senior Manager, General & Technical Accounting LOCATION : 2 Broadway HOURS OF WORK : 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (7 ½ hours/day) DEADLINE : Open until filled This position is eligible for telework which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire. SUMMARY : To assist in the management of various General Accounting related functions in accordance with GAAP and GASB pronouncements, to enable Triborough Bridges and Tunnel Association (TBTA) to comply with MTA and federal government reporting requirements RESPONSIBILITIES : + Assist in the month-end and annual accounting close. Prepare monthly standard and adjusting journal entries. + Prepare monthly Financial Statements and monthly account analysis. + Analyze and reconcile various general ledger accounts for accuracy and timely resolution of variances. + Prepare quarterly and annually MTA formatted Financial Statements, which include Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A) and footnotes. + Prepare documentation for audit requests. + Responsible for coordinating monthly accruals with operating departments. + Perform various accounting functions for ORT (Open Road Tolling) and CBDTP (Central Business Tolling District Tolling Program). + Other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES + Working knowledge of PeopleSoft General Ledger System. + Proficiency in and/or ability to learn communication and interpersonal skills. + Proficiency in and/or ability to learn organizational and presentation skills. + Proficiency in and/or ability to learn to work with all internal levels within a given organization. + Proficiency in and/or ability to learn to communicate and interact well with external agencies. + Proficiency in and/or ability to learn completing short- and long-term projects effectively and as efficiently as possible. + Proficiency in and/or ability to learn analytical and/or quantitative skills. + Demonstrated proficiency in or ability to learn the Microsoft Office Suite or comparable applications, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : Required: + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting , Finance or Business or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. + Minimum 3 years related accounting- related experience. + Minimum of three (3) years preparing journal entries, account analysis and variance analysis + Minimum of three (3) years of preparing corporate financial statements. Preferred: + Master’s degree in a related field. + CPA License + Familiarity with the MTA’s policies and procedures. + Familiarity with the MTA’s collective bargaining procedures.
