Senior Accounting Assistant

The Senior Accounting Assistant position supports the local operations Area Management, Area Accounting Lead, Area Project Accounting team, and Corporate Accounting resources. Primary responsibilities include performing the general accounting functions for the Area, as well as assisting in providing project financial support. This position follows practices and procedures in accordance with HDR policies, HDR best practice processes, HDR accounting principles and federal government compliance standards.


Primary Responsibilities include General Accounting Functions:

Perform Accounts Payable functions relative to HDR accounts payable procedures, including:Coding processing accounts payable and purchase requisitionsProcessing on-demand check requestsReviewing and assist in processing accounts payable transactions for sub consultantsResearching and communicate release of subconsultant payments to corporate finance accounting groupManage and maintain monthly credit card purchases and reconciliationsPerform internal cost recovery functions for billable project charges of vehicles equipmentTrack employee temporary duty costsTrack local vehicles, including coordinating with corporate as neededAssist with G/L Analysis, including research and pulling backup documentationTrack costs associated with training, seminars, conferences for both in-house and external eventsPerform monitor timesheet labor adjustments Accounts Payable/Expense report adjustmentsAssist, as needed, with approval of employee timesheets relative to HDR timekeeping policies proceduresReview and answer questions as needed for employee expense reports relative to HDR travel business expense policy proceduresPerform other duties as needed

May also provide cross-Functional Project Financial Support:

Assist Project Accountants with monthly project costing reports and gathering backup to support client invoicesAssist the local operations Area Accounting Lead and project accountants with research regarding project financial statusEnsure project accounting files have appropriate documentation and project reconciliationCollaborate with project accountants to resolve outstanding A-R issues confirm documentation of collection activitiesAssist multiple project accountants and other staff on a daily basis

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's degree in business and/or Accounting or bachelor's degree in accountingOracle EBS experience a plusAccounting experience in A/E/C industry desirable

Required Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalentA minimum of 5 years of experienceProficiency with MS Office including Word and OutlookExcellent verbal and written communication including grammar, punctuation, proofreading, spelling and telephone skillsFlexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and collaborate with various managers in a fast-paced environmentSelf-motivated, well-organized and detail-orientedAbility to handle confidential informationAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
