POSITION TITLE:    Senior Accounts Payable Analyst

 

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Accounts Payable Analyst Sr. will have a robust accounting and analytical background and will support the Accounts Payable team by facilitating general ledger account reconciliations, preparing cash forecasts, analyzing, and preparing state and federal reports, and providing team support as needed.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

System Administration

Implements and maintains systems to provide visibility, control, and compliance with company policy, government regulations, and to minimize manual recording effort. Records accounting transactions and prepares financial/accounting analyses, schedules, statements, reconciliations, and reports for accounts such as accounts payable, accrued liabilities, prepaid expenses and other liabilities. Provides general assistance related to special projects, such as system implementations.

Auditing 

Prepares audit schedules, researches historical accounting data, and provides analytical data to assist auditors as appropriate. Coordinates with Accounts Receivable team to ensure supplier refunds are posted to the correct accounts. Researches and follows up on outstanding checks, ensuring compliance with TSRI policy and state escheat regulations.

Reporting 

Processes, reports, and reconciles California sales and use tax to ensure compliance with state regulations and timely filing of tax returns. Remains cognizant of basic federal and state compliance regulations. Ensures accurate and timely reporting of California Employment Development Department (EDD) requirements for independent contractors, including 1099 forms and related filings. Processes and ensures compliance with IRS regulations on non-resident alien taxation, including appropriate withholding and reporting requirements.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting or business plus 3 years progressively responsible accounting experience, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.    Working knowledge and/or experience with any large ERP Oracle cloud systems, NetSuite, Great Plains etc, Workday preferred. Understanding of GAAP principles, and internal controls. Experience analyzing issues, defining problems, processing transactions in a timely and consistent manner, and adhering to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) skills. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, adjust schedules as needed, and work independently with little supervision. Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to select appropriate means of communication. Details of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.   This is an on-campus position requiring 4 days per week working onsite from our La Jolla campus, with flexibility to work 1 day per week remotely from home. 

COMPENSATON: 

The expected hiring range for this position is $83,000 to $110,000/annually, commensurate with experience.
