Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior ACM Accommodation Assistant for the Access and Disability Resources.
Among the key duties of this position are the following: Assists in coordinating the conversion of course materials into accessible versions for students with disabilities. Converts textbook and course materials into accessible formats which include ongoing communication with instructors, the Bookstores, private vendors, contact with Access Text Network (go between service provider and textbook publishers), and accessing and converting online resources (instructor online notes, E-Reserves, etc.). Oversees the conversion process and serve as a backup to scanning and proofing course content to ensure the timely and effective delivery of accessible materials in alternate formats. Meets individually with students registered with the Office of Disability Services to evaluate the needs related to technological requirements and provide interventions and solutions for accessing course information, technologies, and resources. Trains students on the use of assistive technologies such as Kurzweil, Voice-Over, Dragon Naturally Speaking, NVDA, and Jaws. Converts exams into accessible formats for the student (i.e., enlarged fonts). Supports the disability services offices, as well as other duties as assigned.
