Senior Actuary - Finance

We want everyone who works at CVS Health to feel empowered by the role they play in transforming our culture and accelerating our ability to innovate and deliver solutions to make health care more personal, convenient and affordable. **Job Purpose and Summary:** The Senior Manager in this role will have wide latitude in solving enterprise business problems that drive results across the four business units of Health Care Benefits (HCB), Pharmacy Services (PS), Health Care Delivery (HCD), and Pharmacy & Consumer Wellness (PCW). This individual will perform complete and accurate financial analysis of strategic initiatives, with advanced actuarial analysis when necessary, and provide recommendations that are well thought out and defendable to influence overall strategic direction for the enterprise. This role will be heavily focused on working in cross-functional and cross-segment teams in converting advanced data and analytics into actionable business insight. Roles also includes, collaborating on business initiatives, recognizing and anticipating matters that will materially impact financial outcomes, providing sound risk-management advice, and communicating all the above effectively. The individual in this role will interface with executives across the enterprise, including segment CFOs, P&L owners, strategy leaders, and other VPs. **Fundamental Components:** Responsibilities include: + Financial ownership of various Integrated Value priority workstreams, including evaluation of opportunities, business case development, and tracking/managing results + Updating and owning Enterprise Lifetime Value (ELTV) models, assumptions and methodology + Completing competitive analysis based internal and external data sources + Developing a comprehensive understanding of CVS Health’s enterprise assets and the associated key pricing/financial levers + Providing analytical and strategic insights in support of new areas of enterprise expansion (e.g., healthcare delivery risk-bearing entities, pharmacy biosimilar strategies, etc.) Key competencies: + Strong communication skills to communicate accurately, succinctly and with influence to business partners and key stakeholders at varying levels – both verbally and through presentations + Accountable for driving a high volume of work with limited daily direction in order to deliver strong results and service to business partners + Demonstrated ability to understand the health plan and/or care delivery business models, preferably across multiple lines of business + Experience working with colleagues across functions such as finance, strategy, underwriting, sales, clinical, product, operations, IT & data science + Proven track record of working successfully in matrixed teams, as well as adapting and performing in a high pressure, highly visible, dynamic and changing environment Ability to: + Develop and maintain detailed knowledge of the health insurance industry, PBM industry, current/emerging medical and pharmacy trend management strategies, current/emerging CVS enterprise offerings, drivers of CVS enterprise revenue/profitability, and drivers of health plan client revenue/profitability + Perform complex financial analysis that is complete, accurate, and agreed to by business partners + Develop and executing strategic business plans + Apply business and analytical expertise to make informed recommendation and decisions + Receive and respond to feedback from executives using sounds judgement and maturity **Required Qualifications** + Bachelors degree along with 5+ years progressively responsible professional actuarial and/or finance experience + Must have ASA or FSA + Strong understanding of Health Care Benefits, Health Care Delivery, PBM and/or Retail Pharmacy segments; experience across multiple segments is a plus + Proven project management skills including experience in development and management of multiple projects and various initiatives + Understanding of marketplace and competitive trends, enterprise strategy and constituency expectations + Excellent written, verbal communication, presentation and influential skills + Ability to work well in a matrixed, multidisciplinary team environment, as well as independently **Pay Range** The typical pay range for this role is: $118,450.00 - $260,590.00 This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
