Senior Advanced Chemical Engineer

UOP's Lifecycle Solutions and Technologies (LST) business unit located in Des Plaines, IL is currently offering an excellent career opportunity within the Technical Services department. The Senior Advanced Chemical Engineer will play a key role in completing the transfer of UOP's technology to ensure the safe and profitable operation of UOP-licensed or UOP-designed units. This position involves regular interaction with both external customers and internal teams at UOP.

Key Responsibilities:

\n\nProvide technical support for a range of UOP technologies, with a primary focus on Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) and Treating, and potential involvement in HF Alkylation, Methanol to Olefins (MTO), and Renewables.\nInteract with external customers, including licensee/operating companies, EPC contractors, vendors, and consultants, as well as internal teams such as Field Services, Customer Success Organization (CSO), R&D, Engineering, and Business groups.\nComplete the transfer of technology to deliver UOP-licensed or UOP-designed units that operate optimally, profitably, and safely.\nCollaborate with other UOP departments involved in technology delivery, such as R&D, Sales/Sales Support, and Engineering.\nGain exposure and knowledge of accountabilities in other areas, providing opportunities for career advancement within Technology Services and other departments like CSO, R&D, and Engineering.\n\n

Fixed Accountabilities:

\n\nParticipate in R&D technology improvement projects.\nChampion changes and improvements in supported technologies.\nSupport new unit and revamped unit startups from pre-commissioning through guarantee acceptance.\nAttend customer meetings and Engineering review meetings for new units and revamps.\nReview and analyze commercial unit operating data and provide feedback.\nProvide troubleshooting assistance and conduct on-site commercial unit audits.\nPrepare and update operating manuals, process technology manuals, and training materials.\nDeliver UOP technology training courses both domestically and internationally.\n\n

Relative Accountabilities:

\n\nAuthor MOIs for processes within your area of responsibility.\nObtain Six Sigma Green Belt certification and apply tools and techniques to improvement projects.\nAssist in preparing material for and participating in Technical Symposia and Sales Meetings.\n\n

\n

Salary Range:

\n

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $110,000 to $138,000. Please note that the final salary offer will be determined based on various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.

\n

 

\n

 

YOU MUST HAVE

\n\nBachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics.\n8+ years of experience in FCC and Treating process technologies, gained from UOP Field Operating Service, UOP Engineering, or a Refinery in process operations, technical services, or engineering design.\nAbility to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.\n\n
